Class Description

Lina Cruz has been teaching professional and pre-professional ballet technique since 1983. She has developed a personal approach to classical ballet training that is highly appreciated by dancers of all backgrounds. Through exercises at the bar and in the centre, her classes propose a method that is both stripped down and alive, using precise tools that make technique and flexibility accessible and very modern. Lina integrates her experience in martial arts with her ballet training, allowing detailed work with the hips and contributing to logical anatomical movement and to classical technique.

Lina Cruz

“Stylized to the minimum gesture”, choreographer Lina Cruz founded the company Productions Fila 13 in 2003 after working several years as an independent choreographer. Her artistic approach received enthusiastic praise in Toronto in 2012, where her production Soupe du jour received the prestigious Dora Mavor Moore award for both Outstanding Choreography and for Outstanding Sound Design/Composition (music by Philippe Noireaut).

Artists, companies and institutions throughout Canada have called upon her services as choreographer and pedagogue. In 2016 and 2017 her creations will be presented at the Canada Dance Festival, the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, l’Agora de la danse in Montreal as well as at La Maison pour la danse in Quebec City.
