CHOREOGRAPHIC IMMERSION — WORKSHOP INSPIRED BY THE SHOW “MOÏRA”:

What if dance could transcend time, myths, and legends?

In this workshop designed by the Sursaut dance company, students dive into the world of the show Moïra, inspired by the Greek myth of the Three Fates—the three goddess-witches who spin, unravel, and cut the thread of every mortal’s life. Through a series of playful and creative activities, the young participants explore contemporary dance by engaging with the show’s iconic objects: the hourglass and the braids. They take turns becoming mysterious oracles or warriors, inventing their own movements, challenging each other in a choreographed sequence, and mimicking one another in a game of mirrors. The workshop concludes with a lively, energetic choreography inspired by the show and enhanced by the participants’ own creative contributions.

Location: gym, auditorium, or outdoors if the weather permits

Grade Level: 2nd–5th grade

Duration: 60 minutes Capacity: 1 class

Price: $180 + tax + travel expenses (over 20 km: $0.56/km + tax)

DANCE THROUGH PLAY

What if dance popped up where you least expect it? In this new workshop designed by the Sursaut dance company, students discover contemporary dance through play, without even realizing it—or almost not. A roll of the dice that determines the movement, a reimagined game of Marco Polo where the body becomes a language, familiar games that are transformed and let dance in through the wide-open door of fun. Through these playful and surprising activities, the students explore the fundamentals of contemporary movement: space, time, energy, and relationships with others. The session concludes with the students learning a short choreography inspired by their explorations—their first collective creation, which they themselves will perform.

Location: gym, auditorium, or outdoors if the weather permits

Grade Level: 2nd–6th grade

Duration: 60 minutes Capacity: 1 class

Price: $180 + tax + travel expenses (over 20 km: $0.56/km + tax)

COLLECTIVE BODIES

FINDING ONE’S PLACE WITHIN A GROUP
This contemporary dance workshop invites students to reflect on their place within a group and to explore, through movement, their emotions and personal challenges. Inspired by the themes of the production *Printemps marmelade*—identity, power dynamics, the search for self, and social cohesion—the workshop can be offered as a complement to the performance or as a standalone program. It encourages reflection on the impact each individual has within a group and on how our actions affect one another. Guided by an artist, the teenagers will participate in a series of individual and group exercises to connect with their own bodies, engage with others, and experience how movement can express an emotion or an inner state. The workshop also encourages reflection on social cohesion through body language. The workshop will conclude with a discussion about the profession of a dancer, exploring its many facets, from artistic work to everyday life. Students will thus have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the world of dance and discover the various dimensions of this practice.
