  • 21 March 2019 - Registrations are open for the summer dance camp!

    Summer-dance-day-campFrom July 8th to 12th, the fourteenth edition of Sursaut’s summer dance camp will once again offer children from 6 years of age and up the opportunity to spend a week discovering the world of contemporary dance. Accompanied by professional artists in a playful and exploratory atmosphere, participants will be introduced to different approaches to movement and will acquire a variety of tools that will inspire their own choreographic creations. In this same creative spirit and always with a movement-oriented approach, participants will also work on a visual arts project throughout the week.

  • 14 March 2019 - AUDITION

    _FL29167The Sursaut Dance Company is looking for a male dancer for its’ young and family audience production Me squared, choreographed by Stephanie Brochard. The candidate possesses a strong background and training in contemporary dance, has extensive professional performing experience, is in excellent physical condition with versatility in movement styles. Acrobatic movement skills, and ease in theatrical performance are a plus. Applications must be sent no later than March 27th 2019, to the attention of Francine Châteauvert. Only selected candidates will receive an invitation to the audition.

    Audition date : April 9th 2019
    The audition will be held in Sherbrooke, at the Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré (250, rue du Dépôt)

  • 14 February 2019 - Classes with Kelly Keenan

    We are pleased to welcome Kelly Keenan for another week of dances classes this winter. This workshop explores ways to transfer the tactile experience we get from the floor and each other into dancing through space. The class will propose different tasks, prompts, metaphors and images to guide, layer and shape our experience of a dance. The classes will weave from floor to standing and with a great interest in the artful play and pleasure of dancing. Not to be missed!

  • 7 February 2019 - Body-Mind Centering workshop with Mariko Tanabe

    Don’t miss the Body-Mind Centering workshop with Mariko Tanabe at the Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré, from February 11th to the 14th, 9:30 am to 12:30pm. This workshop is open to all professionals in the performing arts working with movement.

  • 25 January 2019 - Dance classes for adolescents are back!

    Contemporary dance classes for adolescents will be back after spring break! Offered by Stephanie Brochard, dancer and assistant artistic director for the Sursaut Dance Company, the classes aim to develop the consciousness of the body through the principles of contemporary dance, while at the same time encouraging each participant to develop his or her own personal creativity and approach to movement. Register now!

  • 22 January 2019 - A first tour for Me squared!

    The production Me squared begins its dissemination on tour this winter.  Created by Stephanie Brochard, the show will be performed at the Carré 150 in Victoriaville, Quebec, on January 23rd, at the Riverview Arts Center in Riverview, New Brunswick, on January 26th, and finally at the River Run Centre in Guelph, Ontario, from January 29th through the 31st.

  • 20 November 2018 - Intensive Workshop with Carol Prieur

    The company is thrilled to welcome dancer and teacher Carol Prieur for a workshop at the Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré on November 25th and 26th. A sensory movement workshop focused on finding each dancer’s individual voice as vehicles for communication, where the body’s possibilities will be explored by diving into the body’s landscapes, using movement as a language of individual expression and communication. A dancer with the Marie Chouinard Company since 23 years, Carol Prieur is a figurehead in contemporary dance in Quebec.   • 13 November 2018 - Acuna nominated for the CALQ-Work of the Year Award in the Eastern Townships

    Choreographer and dancer Amandine Garrido Gonzalez is pictured here among the three finalists for the CALQ-Work of the Year Award in the Eastern Townships for Acuna, created in 2017 and produced by the Sursaut Dance Company. We are very proud of this nomination, which confirms the quality of this dance creation for very young children. Congratulations, Amandine!

     

  • 2 October 2018 - Essaim | A key project for up and coming artists

    The Sursaut Dance Company is proud to present a brand new project, Essaimwhich will be presented on November 9th and 10th at Centennial Theatre in Sherbrooke. A blend of contemporary dance, circus arts, theatrical movement and baroque dance, five choreographers invite us to discover their worlds through a collection of short choreographies, danced as solos or duos. With Essaim, the company wanted to bring together, support and acknowledge the region’s up-and-coming artists who each have a unique creative process, creating a show that is fresh, modern and diverse.
