  • 4 July 2018 - Sursaut’s creations continue to inspire and intrigue Chinese audiences

    From July 31st to August 29th the Sursaut Dance Company will be travelling through China with the production At nightfall. This being the production’s third tour in the Middle Kingdom, the company can attest, with growing pride, that Chinese audiences’ appreciation for this choreographic work is as strong as ever.

  • 7 May 2018 - Training Classes with Gaby Agis

    From May 14th to 18th and 22nd to 25th, Gaby Agis, a choreographer, teacher and dancer based in London UK, will be teaching classes based on the Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT). The SRT is a pioneering approach to dance, movement and the creative process that has evolved from the simple principle that when we are releasing physicals tension, we can move with greater freedom, power and articulation.

  • 18 April 2018 - Training Classes with Laura Toma

    From April 23rd to 27th 2018, Laura Toma, one of the only two certified Gaga instructors in Canada, will be offering a class based on this unique teaching method developped by Ohad Naharin.

    Gaga is a movement language that is the daily training of Batsheva Dance Company. The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever-changing power of movement.

  • 28 March 2018 - ACUNA in Sherbrooke

    Acuna is the Sursaut Dance Company’s very first creation destined specifically for very young children (from 18 months of age). It will be presented on April 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the Centre de arts de la scène Jean-Besré.

    This choreographic work, a marriage of dance and circus arts will be presented as a workshop-performance.

  • 21 March 2018 - Registration is open for the summer dance camp

     

    From July 2nd to 6th, the thirteenth edition of Sursaut’s summer dance day camp will once again offer children from 6 years of age and up the opportunity to spend a week discovering the world of contemporary dance. Accompanied by professional artists in a playful and exploratory atmosphere, participants will be introduced to different approaches to movement and will acquire a variety of tools that will inspire their own choreographic creations. In this same creative spirit and always with a movement-oriented approach, participants will also work on a visual arts project throughout the week. New this year, a workshop exploring the creation of a sound track will be part of the week’s activities. No previous dance experience is necessary to get the most out of this unique summer day camp.

  • 22 February 2018 - Training Classes with Zofia Tujaka

    Training classes with Zofia Tujaka continue! A workout focusing on cardio and muscular work, including balance exercises and dynamic and static stretching.

    Monday, February 26th: 12:00 to 13:30 p.m.
    Monday, March 5th: 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.
    Monday, March 12th: 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.

  • 25 January 2018 - Training Classes with Zofia Tujaka

    Zofia Tujaka is a classically trained dancer who performed for La La La Human Steps for 15 years.

    She is offering a class that will begin with an active warm-up (light cardio, dynamic stretching and core activation) followed by a basic ballet barre emphasizing  precision and alignment. Carrying those qualities through into centre, the dynamic interpretations of exercises within space will be encouraged. Balance exercises and static stretching will finish off the class.

    Monday, January 29th: 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
    Tuesday, January 30th: 10:00 to 11:45 a.m.
    Wednesday, January 31st: 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

  • 10 January 2018 - Me squared presented in Sherbrooke in January

    Me squared, a production choreographed by Stéphanie Brochard, returns to Sherbrooke. Premiered in 2015, the production has been fine-tuned and will be presented to the general public at the Centre culturel at the University of Sherbrooke on January 14th as part of the Choux-Bizz series. Two school matinées will also be presented on January 15th. This contemporary work features three characters performed by Amandine Garrido Gonzalez, Jasmine Inns and Xavier Malo. At the dawn of adolescence, they confront each other in their need to express both their individuality and their need to belong to a group. This quest for identity, particularly strong at this stage of life, is manifested through a dynamic and bubbling physicality that ably portrays both conflict and communion.

     

  • 16 November 2017 - Training classes with David Rancourt

    The company will host the teacher and performer David Rancourt from November 20th to 24th. The proposed class is a hybrid of dance technique and technique of the body, using the principles and quality of presence inspired by Qi Gong. Read the complete description >>

  • 31 October 2017 - The Cicada and the Ant returns to Quebec!

    Presented in Mexico as the opening act at the Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea Lila Lopez in San Luis Potosi this summer, The Cicada and the Ant  continues its’ dissemination in Quebec this autumn, and will be presented at the Montreal North Cultural and Community Centre on November 14th, 2017. Lauded for its quality, this version of the celebrated fable by de La Fontaine is an ode to nature and the beauty of day to day life.
