  • 13 January 2021 - Camila Vasquez appointed General Coordinator

    NEWS_photo_camilaWe are happy to announce the appointment of Camila Vasquez to the new position of General Coordinator! Visual artist, holder of a Master of Arts degree, and a cultural worker for the past fifteen years, Camilla is the Executive assistant at Sursaut since January 2019. Her appointment as General Coordinator will allow her to bring all her expertise to promote the realization of the company’s artistic projects.

  • 11 January 2021 - Teleworking until February 8th

    Due to government measures in force presently, our offices will be closed until February 8th. Our whole team will be working from home during this period. We will be taking telephone messages regularly, although the best way to reach us is by email. In spite of this situation, we are continuing the work on our artistic projects, and are looking forward to sharing them with you!

  • 3 December 2020 - Classes for dance professionals with Nicolas Zemmour

They will be held from December 7th through December 11th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré. News : classes will be offered by Nicolas Zemmour, performer, choreographer, and teacher, newly installed in the Eastern Townships since one year. Classes with Jamie Wright have been rescheduled, and will be held from the 18th through the 22nd of January 2021. Don’t miss this chance to train in studio!

  • 26 November 2020 - FUDGE | A first International Dance Festival for Young Audiences!

    The Sursaut Dance Company is happy to announce this major project, the first edition of which will be held in Sherbrooke from September 21st through September 26th 2021! FUDGE will present audacious artistic works hailing from local, national, and international stages. Programming will be revealed in the spring of 2021. Stay tuned!

  • 12 November 2020 - Dance classes for professionals are on

    In red zones, professional activities of artists, creators, and cultural workers, such as, rehearsals or technique classes – are still permitted. Class for professional dancers will be held as planned, while respecting sanitary measures of public health authorities. However, due to a last minute change beyond our control, the teacher will be replaced. Julien Derradj, performer, choreographer, and teacher, will offer technique class in Release and Floorwork. It’s a date, next week from Monday thru Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré!

  • 8 October 2020 - CALL TO ARTISTS | Dance work for young audiences

    The Sursaut Dance Company is looking for dance artists with a project to create a work for young audiences, that could be produced within the framework of the company. The proposed choreographic projects must have a minimum of two performers, the movement at the heart of the creative process and a projected lenght of 25 minutes minimum. Three projects will be selected for a short residency of one or two weeks at the Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré in Sherbrooke. Following the residencies, one of the projects will be chosen to be produced by the company. To submit a project, send your curriculum vitæ, a description of the proposed choreographic project, as well as audiovisual support material from your professional career, to Francine Châteauvert, Artistic Director and General Manager, at fchateauvert@sursaut.ca, before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30th, 2020.

  • 30 September 2020 - The Sursaut Squad outdoors for les Journées de la culture!

    Escouade-petitThis autumn, The Sursaut Squad will occupy the Square Queen, an ephemeral public space set up in the Lennoxville borough of Sherbrooke, with the presentation of short choreographic excerpts. Young and old alike can discover and enjoy a diversity of movements and atmospheres, and delve into different aspects of contemporary dance. A special brigade whose mission is to bring creative dance to life, the Squad is an opportunity to discover and exchange with the artists, a pleasant and friendly activity to plunge into the universe of movement!

    October 17th and 18th, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

  • 25 August 2020 - Classes in contemporary dance offered once again in the fall of 2020!

    image-affichette-filtreAfter a session of online virtual classes this past spring, classes in contemporary dance for adolescents will return to our studios this fall!  New this year, two groups will be offered; for 10-13 year olds with Amandine Garrido Gonzalez, and for 14-17 year olds with Stephanie Brochard. The goal of the classes is to offer a solid base in contemporary dance, while at the same time encouraging each student to develop their own personal approach to movement.
    It’s time to register!
