Emmanuelle Bourassa Beaudoin’s classes are based on principles of Release technique, Limon, and functional anatomy. She combines her love of floor work, her expansive exploration of space, her musical sensitivity, and her search for essence. The core of her work is kinesthetic pleasure. We will start by letting ourselves be moved by weight and momentum on the floor, slowly. We will work on the precision of pathways and breath. We will speed up… we will gain momentum, our hearts will race. We will establish our verticality. We will be carried by the flow, this balance between musicality, momentum, mastery, and surrender. We will honor spirals and amplitude. Balance is constantly challenged by playing with the loss of visual references. We will focus on proprioception. We will come to complex rhythms and weight transfers, investing ourselves in space. We will play with the passage of the center through all levels, turns, and jumps. Physicality is deployed while trying to keep the subtler sensations alive.

ABOUT EMMANUELLE:

Emmanuelle Bourassa Beaudoin has performed the works of many choreographers, including Alan Good, Massimo Agostinelli, Sonya Delwaide, Jadson Caldeira, Marjon Van Grunsven, Roberto Campanella, Edgar Zendejas, and Harold Rhéaume. She also danced for several years with Compagnie Dave St-Pierre and Le Carré des Lombes. As a rehearsal director, she has collaborated with Danièle Desnoyers, Estelle Clareton, Marie Chouinard, and various emerging choreographers. Currently, Emmanuelle is working with Zoey Gauld on a pedagogical transmission project by Angélique Willkie. She has taught movement-related courses at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, UQAM, and the National Theatre School of Canada. Outside of dance, Emmanuelle is constantly amazed by her practice of Qigong; she sings all the time; she volunteers as an environmental activist and escapes into nature for long hikes whenever she has the chance.
