The proposed class will be a hybrid of dance technique and body technique. We will use principles and a quality of presence inspired by Qi Gong (energy work). We’ll work with forms drawn from classical, modern and contemporary vocabulary, with simplicity in mind, with the goalof finding ease, agility and integrity in our movements.
We’ll take the time to get in touch with our breathing and our weight. The body will be called upon to unfold in space through various exercises, sequences and improvised structures. The teaching emphasis is on the balance between finding freedom while meeting form (external demand). Alternating between subtle and more dynamic segments, the class awakens your body in a sensitive and creative way.
